Terminus Cornebarrieu - Awaiting deportation

tear gasOn January 19th a small group of demonstrators paid a visit to a small and unimpressive area near the international airport of Toulouse. You might not know to look at it that it might be the turning point of the lives of not only the 126 detainees that are currently imprisoned there, but also of thousands of people that might pass through it in the future. photografree.net documented the feeling of helplessness that overcomes anybody in the sight of the Terminus Cornebarrieu.

Picture exhibition Art against Racism

KarteThe organisation People to People International has organised an exhibition of photos dealing with racism and similar subjects, for which three photos of photografree.net have been chosen. The exhibition takes place from august 13th to 23rd and 24th respectively in Plovdiv as well as in Berlin.

Kartephotografree.net presents the first edition of its postcard collection. The card shows a photograph taken during the student protests in may 2006 in Toulouse. It is a standard postcard of 10*15 cm, 400g with a brilliant coating.

Riots as Le Pen visits Toulouse

tear gasOn March 25th the presidential candidate for the extreme right Jean-Marie Le Pen came to Toulouse in the course of his election campaign. The area of the congress hall had been cleared by the police in advance. But in the afternoon the situation escalated and violence shook the streets of the southern french city. This photo essay allows unique insights to the events.

AirbusAfter the announcement of the Power8 plan on the restructurisation of Airbus, the unions called for a demonstration in Toulouse, the main site of Airbus. 15000 workers, unionists and representatives came together in the southern french metropole to show their discontentment with the plan. photografree.net was there and the photo essay will soon be published right here.



Retrospective: CPE-protests in France

CRSIn 2006 universities and schools had been on strike in France due to the protest against the CPE-law project. This photo essay provides an insight into the protest, their actors and their motivation. To the first anniversary of the CPE the essay is now online again in both versions (though the essay itself is only available in the german language).

Gallery: Close Guanatamo Now!

CollageOn February 11th 2002 the United States of America opened a camp on their naval base Guantanamo Bay. It is used to detain, without trial and probably under the use of torture, "enemy combatants", a term used to elude the Geneva Conventions which protect prisoners of war. On January 13th 2007 Amnesty International gathered to protest against this detainment camp.

Photo of the year 2006

Collage2006 has been an eventful year for photografree.net. The student protests in France in spring and the Lebanon war in summer lead to protests, recorded in photographs. During december you had the choice between the best photos of the your to choose your favourite. Many readers participated and a winner has been chosen.

Gallery «Demonstration Palestine-Lebanon»

Flaggen Nachdem ein Ende des Konflikts im Nahen Osten noch nicht abzusehen ist und jeden Tag weitere Zivilisten sterben, wurde von Vertretern der in Frankreich lebenden Libanesen und Palästinenser eine Demonstration in der Innenstadt von Toulouse organisiert.
Erneut gibt es vorerst nur eine Galerie, das Fotoessay verzögert sich vor dem Hintergrund der Aktualität.
